August is a quiet month for many businesses. People are on summer vacation, so emails take longer to get answered, and meetings slow down. That can feel frustrating, but it’s also a great opportunity to revisit your digital marketing before things ramp back up. If your business is entering a slow point, now is your chance to give extra attention to all extensions of your brand. In fact, if you’re thinking about a new web design for your business, now is the ideal time to review and refresh your site. For most companies, a website does a lot of heavy lifting for their brand. So why not give it the check-up it deserves? In this post, we’ll take a look at why August is such a smart time to make digital changes and how to make them count.

Why August Is the Right Time to Look Closer at Your Website

You might not think summer is the best time for web design, but for some businesses, it’s the slowest time of the year. When your schedule is lighter, your mind has more room to think clearly. The extra free time can help you look at your website with fresh eyes.

If you’re looking to do a personal website audit, we recommend starting with these questions:

Is your website doing its job?

Does it explain what you do, who you are, and how to contact you?

Does it make sense for your clientele?

Is it up-to-date in technology offerings?

Is your website responsive on all devices and platforms?

August is also a smart time to prep for the fall. Many businesses get busy again in September. We’ve discussed at length how September is the unofficial New Year for people in the business community. That means people start looking for services, booking appointments, or exploring new purchases. You want your site to be ready before that rush.

This doesn’t mean a full rebuild. Sometimes, small changes make the biggest difference. For example, swapping out old photos, fixing broken links, or adding new testimonials can make your site feel updated without starting from scratch. Other times, you may need something bigger, like a new homepage, better cohesion with brand guidelines, or a more functional layout for mobile users.

There are Exceptions…

August can be a good time to slow down and reflect, but that depends on your line of work. For some, summer is peak season. If you’re in tourism, hospitality, farming, landscaping, or construction, chances are you’re already working long days and trying to stay on top of tight schedules. The weather, the demand, and the seasonal nature of your business all mean you’re probably not in a position to sit down and rethink your website right now.

In fact, trying to fit in digital updates during your busiest stretch might lead to rushed decisions or half-finished work. If this is your high season, it’s okay to put web changes on the back burner. There will be a better time for that. Perhaps, in the winter, when things naturally slow down.

But for others, August is one of the quieter months. Many offices and client-based businesses see fewer meetings, delayed emails, and a general pause in pace while people take summer vacation. This is especially true in industries like law, accounting, therapy, consulting, education, and real estate. These sectors often see a noticeable uptick in activity once September hits. Clients return from holidays ready to follow up, commit to projects, or finally check off the things they’ve been putting off.

If that sounds like your business, it might make sense to spend some time now looking at your website. Not to do a complete overhaul, but just to make sure it still reflects where your business is going. When things pick up again in the fall, you’ll be glad your site is ready for new eyes.

You don’t have to wait for things to break before you fix them. Your website is one of your most important marketing and visibility tools. That’s why it’s worth keeping strong, clear, and up-to-date. This month is a great time to audit your site so that it best represents your business.

If you’re a business owner in Kelowna and your website is tanking your customer experience, it’s time for a change. A good website should work for you, not against you. If your clients find it challenging to use, they won’t stick around. Whether you’re running a landscaping company or managing real estate in the valley, your website needs to be fast, clear, and mobile-friendly. But too often, we see the same mistakes pop up. Bad user experience. Old designs. Pages that load like it’s still 2003. That stuff turns customers away before you get the chance to connect with them.

Below, we’ve gone over the most common blunders we see and what to do instead.

Bad User Experience Is Killing Your Website

Let’s start with user experience (UX). UX refers to how people interact with your website. Can they find what they need? Can they get there quickly? Does everything feel smooth? To illustrate, an example of bad UX might look like misleading menus, buttons that don’t work, weird pop-ups that block the screen, and broken links that lead nowhere. If people have to work to use your website, they’ll be gone lickety-split.

One of the biggest mistakes we see on websites is clutter. Too many words, images, and unnecessary information. When a visitor lands on your website, you’ve got about five seconds to grab attention. So it’s important that people can understand what your business does, where to go next, and how to contact you.

We also see a lot of sites with confusing navigation. Your main menu should contain the basics like your home page, about, services, and contact. If you’ve got a dozen subpages under one tab, it’s time to clean it up.

The most unfortunate problem we see with client websites is their lack of mobile friendliness. It’s so important to test your site on a phone! Most people will likely visit your website from their mobile device. So, tap around. Scroll through. Is it easy to use? If not, your customers are going to get frustrated and find someone else.

UX ensures that people can do what they came to do. Whether that be booking an appointment, seeing your hours, or buying a product, make sure it’s easy.

Speed and Style Can Make or Break Website Design Kelowna BC

If your website is slow, customers will be gone before the page loads. Speed matters for both users and for search engines. Google can drop your ranking if your site is sluggish. Thankfully, slow websites usually come down to a few avoidable problems. For example, too many large images, fancy animations that don’t serve a purpose, and plugins you don’t need. These things bog your site down. Try to keep your site lightweight where possible. Use compressed images, limit extras, and don’t overload your homepage with bells and whistles.

By the way, if your website hasn’t been updated since 2017, it probably shows. Fonts, colours, and layouts age fast. What felt modern five years ago might look very different today. We’ve seen businesses in Kelowna with amazing products or services lose potential customers just because their website looks outdated.

As we mentioned above, mobile website design is non-negotiable. Over half of all browsing is done on a phone. If your site isn’t designed for that, you’re leaving money on the table. We wrote all about the importance of mobile-first web design in our March blog article!

Search engine optimization (SEO) helps people find your website on Google. We’ve written extensively about SEO on our blog, but just in case you missed these posts, here’s a little refresher on the subject.

If you want your website to rank well in search engines, it’s important to follow SEO best practices. Each search engine has its own criteria for ensuring good ranking. But, in general, Google sets the standard. To rank well in Google, your website content needs to be built and formatted in a specific way. Little things like ensuring all pages have titles, meta descriptions, and using different key terms can make a big difference. Though with Google’s new updates, there are some other standards to keep in mind.

Google now prioritizes helpful, user-focused content. That means your site should answer real questions, provide clear value, and avoid keyword stuffing. Page speed, mobile-friendliness, and accessibility also play a big role. And don’t forget to include internal linking, because it helps users find their way and tells Google which pages matter most.

SEO is a long-term strategy. Regularly updating your content, reviewing your analytics, and staying on top of algorithm changes will keep your site visible and relevant. If SEO feels overwhelming, start small. Simple changes like fixing your titles, writing better descriptions, and adding location-based phrases can all help your ranking!

Kelowna businesses can’t afford to ignore mobile users. More than half of all website traffic comes from smartphones. If your site doesn’t load fast and look great on a phone, potential customers will bounce. Google even ranks mobile-friendly websites higher in search results. This means you could be losing out on traffic and sales without proper optimization for all devices. So, as you can imagine, mobile-first design is a necessity for businesses. This simple design standard ensures your website is clear, fast, and user-friendly. In this post, our team will walk you through the importance of mobile web design in Kelowna and how it can benefit your bottom line.

What is Mobile-First Web Design in Kelowna?

Mobile-first design means creating a website with smartphones in mind before scaling up to larger screens. This approach improves user experience and ensures your site functions well across all devices. In the old days, phones were an afterthought because when most people wanted to browse the Internet they would use a desktop computer or equivalent device. It’s only in the last few years that developers have needed to make the switch from designing primarily for desktop to designing primarily for mobile.

A mobile-friendly website needs to be simple, with clear menus and buttons that work well on touchscreens. If people have to pinch and zoom to read your content, they won’t stay long. The text should be legible, and the design should be clean, not cluttered. Nobody should have to play “Where’s Waldo?” with your contact form.

Google favours mobile-friendly websites in search rankings, which means more visibility for your business. A higher rank translates to more traffic, leads, and sales. If your website isn’t optimized for mobile, you’re falling behind your competition.

How Mobile-First Design Improves Business Growth

A mobile-friendly website is less about looks than you might think. In reality, mobile web design has a lot more to do with speed and optimization. A smooth-running, mobile-first design encourages website visitors to stay, browse, and convert.

Think about the last time you tried to visit a slow website. Did you wait, or did you leave? Most people won’t stick around for more than a few seconds. Every delay costs you potential leads. Faster websites improve conversion rates, making sure visitors don’t abandon your page out of frustration.

As a local Kelowna business, it’s important that customers can find you online. Whether you run a restaurant, a retail store, or a service-based business, your site needs to be accessible anytime, anywhere. If people can’t quickly find your hours, location, or contact information, they’ll move on. A mobile-first website eliminates these barriers, making it easier to connect with your brand.

Why Google Loves Mobile-Friendly Websites

As we touched on earlier, Google’s search algorithm rewards mobile-friendly websites. If your site isn’t optimized, it’s pushed lower in SERP rankings. A responsive website tells Google that you care about user experience. If your site loads quickly, has easy-to-read content and functions smoothly on all devices, you’re more likely to rank higher. Better rankings mean more organic traffic, which leads to more conversions. If you’re curious about the latest changes Google has made to its ranking system, check out last month’s blog post!

Another reason Google prioritizes mobile-friendly sites is that user behaviour has changed. More searches happen on mobile devices than on desktops. People want quick answers. If your site makes them work too hard, they’ll leave and find one that doesn’t. When visitors find what they need easily, they stick around. This tells Google your site is valuable, improving its ranking over time.

Google’s preferred method for mobile-first indexing is to use a responsive design. Put simply, this is a practice where your website will change its appearance based on what device it’s being viewed on. Using a responsive design approach means you don’t need a separate URL or dynamic serving. And, if you’re reading this as a developer, or a curious website owner, Google also notes that it’s important to maintain the same content between your mobile and desktop website versions. Removal of content on mobile can inhibit your ability to rank for the same key terms as on your desktop site. This can end up tanking your SERP ranking, which is another reason why responsive design is Google’s recommended approach to mobile-first design.

The Podcast Boom—Worse Than a 3-Point Brick

There’s a podcast for everything these days. Whether it’s obscure conspiracy theories, in-depth analysis of the NBA’s greatest dynasties, or someone’s very public, very emotional journey after being dumped—if you’re looking you can find it. But here’s the issue: much like watching a badly-coached basketball team, most of us don’t even tune in anymore. There are just too many bad podcasts out there, and it’s high time someone did something about it.

Let’s be real—starting a podcast is way too easy. In fact, there are podcasts. About. How to podcast. Whhhhhaaaat? All you need is a microphone (or worse, your laptop’s built-in mic), free editing software, and the will to talk. My gawd the will to talk. Some need the will to shut up because does the world need your hot takes on LeBron’s legacy? Do we need a three-hour deep dive into why your college team is underrated? No. Should we have a license to start one? Absolutely. Let’s talk about why the world of podcasting needs a shot clock before the game gets out of hand.

The Podcast Proliferation: How Did We Get Here?

It’s like the NBA All-Star weekend but with way more amateurs. When podcasting first came into the spotlight, it was a bit like discovering Michael Jordan during his rookie season—you just knew something special was brewing. Think back to Serial, the podcast that started the true-crime craze. Just like Jordan taking off from the free-throw line, it launched a million imitators.

And now? Well, now it’s like a pick-up game with way too many players on the court. According to Edison Research, there are over 4 million podcasts available today, but only about 18% of them have posted a new episode in the last 90 days. It’s like the majority of these podcasters quit halfway through the season, leaving the rest of us to dribble around their half-finished work.

Why? Because starting a podcast is easier than draining a free throw. You just need:

A microphone (though many podcasters prefer yelling into their AirPods)

Basic editing software like Audacity (or none at all, let’s be honest)

A recording space (often the echo-chamber of someone’s shower)

And there you go. The problem is that just like you shouldn’t take a half-court shot unless you’re Steph Curry, not everyone should start a podcast.

The Case for a Podcast License: Quality Control or Bust

Imagine this: you’re a die-hard NBA fan looking for a fresh basketball podcast. After scrolling through endless generic thumbnails (including at least five that feature basketballs in flames), you find one. Five minutes in, the host is ranting about his middle school gym coach, his mic sounds like it’s stuck in a wind tunnel, and the conversation has veered into a heated debate about whether the Earth is flat. This is why we need a podcast license. Some kind of quality control, people!

Picture a vetting process—something simple, like:

“Do you own a microphone that doesn’t double as a potato?”

“Can you stay on topic for more than three minutes?”

“Do you understand that we came here for basketball talk, not your conspiracy theory podcast crossover?”

If the answer is no, congratulations! You’ve just saved the world from another bad podcast. At the very least, there should be a regulation preventing people from launching a podcast without understanding how basic sound works.

Sports Podcast Stars (and Foul Players)

In the sea of podcasts, some manage to rise above the noise, especially in sports. But even these MVPs aren’t without controversy. Let’s start with one of the newest and most high-profile podcasting entries: Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his show New Heights.

New Heights: Hosted by NFL star Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, this podcast covers all things football and life. But let’s be real—ever since Travis started dating Taylor Swift, the show has had way more eyes on it. It’s essentially become the most unlikely blend of sports talk and Swiftie fever. How much is Kelce being paid to share his brotherly banter with the world? Rumor has it he’s just bagged around $100 million for the show, which will now stream on Amazon. Not a bad paycheck for talking about touchdowns and, your girlfriend.

In terms of sports podcasts, though, you can’t deny that some shows bring real insights and entertainment value. But for every JJ Redick’s The Old Man & the Three, there are hundreds of unlistenable clones cluttering the field.

The Old Man & the Three: Hosted by JJ Redick, this podcast has become a must-listen for NBA fans. Unlike your random hot take podcaster, JJ actually knows his stuff, and his guests (often NBA legends) provide insight that feels like courtside analysis.

On the other hand, many other basketball shows feel like watching someone attempt a windmill dunk and fail miserably. You know the ones—they spend 20 minutes on whether the ‘96 Bulls could beat today’s Lakers before descending into side tangents about why they still miss their high school glory days.

Why We Don’t Listen (But Think We Do)

Here’s the thing—just like that friend who swears he “watches every NBA game,” most of us don’t actually listen to the podcasts we pretend to love. Statistics show that 44% of podcast listeners don’t finish the episodes they start. We hit play, get distracted by Instagram, and next thing you know, we’re deep into an argument on Twitter about whether Draymond Green is a dirty player (spoiler: yes).

The reality is we want to look like podcast fans without putting in the hours. After all, the average basketball podcast runs well over an hour. That’s a lot of listening time to sacrifice just to hear someone’s take on whether LeBron or MJ is the GOAT for the millionth time.

The Equipment Problem: Step Up Your Game, Podcasters

Okay, aspiring podcasters, let’s get one thing straight—if you’re going to enter the podcast arena, you need to invest in the right gear. Imagine if Steph Curry took the court with a pair of Payless sneakers instead of his signature Under Armour kicks. Unthinkable, right? Well, the same goes for podcasting. You can’t record the next Bill Simmons Podcast on a $10 mic you found on Craigslist.

A decent USB microphone costs about $100. Throw in a pop filter, some headphones, and maybe a bit of soundproofing, and boom—you’re at least in the minor leagues. Trust me, we can tell the difference between pro-grade audio and someone recording in their mom’s kitchen with the dishwasher running.

It’s the podcast equivalent of watching a basketball game in 480p—sure, it’s technically watchable, but why would you want to suffer like that?

Podcast Licenses—The MVP Move We Need

Podcasts aren’t going anywhere, but that doesn’t mean we need to let every microphone-wielding amateur take up space in our feeds. Imagine if NBA players didn’t need to be drafted or even know how to dribble to get on the court. Chaos, right? That’s what podcasting has become—pure chaos, with way too many armchair athletes putting up shots they have no business taking.

A podcast license might sound extreme, but hear me out. We license people to drive, to fish, and in some cities, to even own a dog. Should starting a podcast—something that’s consumed by millions—be any different? Imagine a world where only the best podcasters made the cut, like an NBA All-Star team of content creators. The rest can keep practicing… quietly.

Until then, we’ll be here, bracing ourselves for the next onslaught of bad podcasts. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to start my own show about the rise of Anthony Edwards to GOAT status—because if the Kelce bros can get $100 million, I can at least get something, right?

In the face of new marketing campaigns, personalization has emerged as a high priority. While personalization is nothing new to marketers, consumers’ expectations for tailored content are steadily on the rise. What used to be a nice-to-have is now becoming a need-to-have, as customers demand interactions that reflect their unique preferences and behaviours. As a result, brands are being forced to elevate their marketing strategies and deliver personalized content wherever possible. But, why do consumers love personalized branding and web design so much? What is it that’s sparked their growing desire for customized experiences? The answer lies in the psychological impact of personalization. In this article, we will unpack everything you need to know about tailoring your content to the consumer. Follow along below to learn more!

Why Do Consumers Need Tailor-Made Branding and Web Design?

Technology has played a large part in the personalization craze. It has undoubtedly made it easier for custom content to be implemented at scale across a wide range of brands. However, the real motivator behind personalization is its efficacy in tapping into fundamental human motivations. For example, with tailored content, consumers are more likely to feel relevant and connected to the brand. As humans, we all seek to be understood in some way or another, and personalization is one way that we can satiate this feeling. Personalizing marketing materials makes consumers feel as though the brand sees them for who they are.

One by-product of this is a sense of belonging. When brands are able to connect their messaging with a customer’s beliefs, it fosters a sense of inclusion. This is an essential emotion to tap into as it can lead to greater customer retention.

Another factor that drives personalization is emotional engagement. Brands that are able to evoke positive emotions from their consumers create a lasting impact. In your marketing strategy, you must outline what emotions you want your customers to feel when viewing your campaign. This will help tailor your messaging to resonate with your customers on a deeper, emotional level.

The final quality that encourages people to seek tailored marketing campaigns is simplicity. We naturally gravitate towards the path of least resistance, finding anything that simplifies our lives and makes things easier highly appealing and motivating. What could be simpler than ads or product suggestions tailored to your lifestyle? Ease of use is a critical component of retaining customer engagement. So, if you can streamline their experience and provide relevant, personalized content, you are more likely to keep them engaged and satisfied.

How Can You Adopt Personalization Into Your Branding Strategy?

To start creating a branding strategy that incorporates personalization, it’s crucial to begin by gaining a deep understanding of your audience. This understanding will form the foundation and success of your campaign. Companies can acquire audience knowledge by offering surveys, conducting interviews, and collecting data from their current customers. Observing customer habits on social media and examining their online presence are also effective tactics to gain insight into who your customers are.

During the research process, you’ll also want to separate your audience into different groups based on shared interests or behaviours. This will help you when it comes time to tailor your messaging to specific segments of your audience.

Once you have a solid understanding of your audience, you can start formulating your brand message to align with their beliefs. This alignment is essential for creating a strong connection with your audience. By tailoring your message to resonate with their values and interests, you can build a more meaningful relationship with your customers. This approach not only helps in creating a more personalized experience but also increases the likelihood of customer loyalty and engagement.

Integrating personalization into your branding can quickly become intricate. Yet, for a straightforward way to connect with your audience on a personal level, try engaging on social platforms such as Instagram or Facebook. Another effective approach is to personalize interactions by using a customer’s name in email newsletters or support requests. Adding personal touches to your branding and marketing doesn’t have to be complex!

Are you sick of hearing about it yet? Chat GPT, Open AI, AI – whatever you want to call it, it’s almost as prevalent as inflation is in the news today.
I. Informational Intent

Informational intent is the most common type of user intent. Searchers with informational intent are seeking answers, explanations, or insights into a specific topic. They may be looking for general knowledge, advice, news, or research materials. Understanding and optimizing for informational intent is essential for content-driven websites and blogs.

Characteristics of Informational Intent

Curiosity

Users with informational intent are often curious and seeking to expand their knowledge on a particular subject.

Broad Queries

Search queries with informational intent are typically broad and open-ended, not specifying a particular product or service.

Question-Based

Hiring a Kelowna web design company is a good idea for any business. If you’re looking to stand out and attract new leads, a professional web design company can help you achieve that! Sure, it can be tempting to buy into one of the many templates offered by businesses like Squarespace and Weebly. However, these free website builders don’t stack up to what a professional web design company can do. Hiring a company that’s versed in web design can kickstart your goals like you never imagined. This is why we decided to make a list of the reasons why you should hire a Kelowna web design company before the year is over. Follow along with the article below to learn more about how hiring a web designer can help you reach your business’s goals!

Reasons to Recruit a Kelowna Web Design Company.

Save Time

If you aren’t a programmer or can’t find your way around Photoshop, it’s going to be very difficult for you to build a website. Simply achieving the basics of a website will take an excruciating amount of time because of the steep learning curve. And, if you had anything more complex in mind, like animations, you might end up spending months just trying to work out one detail. The point is, web design takes years of experience and knowledge in order to craft a site that is functional and completed within a timely manner.

Look Pro

Another benefit to hiring a professional web design team is the professional look of your website. Most people’s first impression of your company is going to be your website. So, it’s important that you make it count! A bad first impression is not good for business and can seriously hurt your company. Hiring a web designer who is well-versed in your field or has worked with similar industries is a smart idea. This way you’ll get a professional-looking website that reflects your company.

It’s an Investment

Hiring a web designer is certainly more expensive than building a website on your own. However, the benefits of hiring a professional web designer outweigh the cost in nearly every circumstance. A professional is able to discern between what’s a trend and what’s here to stay. Thus, ensuring your website looks fresh in both 2023 and 2028. Moreover, a professionally built website is more likely to last longer, not break, and in many cases, web design companies provide support for all of your questions and concerns. When you invest in a custom website, you also gain access to the wonderful team behind the operation. Sounds like a worthwhile investment to us!

Even More Reasons!

4. Stand out From the Crowd

Separating yourself from your competition is a tricky feat. Especially in a saturated market or startup environment. However, one of the best ways to differentiate yourself from your competitors is to build a website that is unique and efficient. Since most people begin their search for a business online, it’s crucial that your website is unique. When your website is not built from a template, it will be more memorable to potential customers. This kind of attention can help you translate website traffic into leads. And, start to build your company’s brand awareness! Talk about a win-win.

5. Get More Leads

Another perk of a professionally built website is lead generation. It’s one thing to have a website, but it’s another to have a website and get found. There are many proven strategies to get your website ranking higher in search results. However, the tried and true method of SEO marketing is a must-do. This is yet another area where the average DIY website builder will need to study up. SEO (search engine optimization) isn’t something that can be learned overnight but is integral to the marketing function of your website. After all, what’s the point of a website if nobody can find it?

6. It Works

A website that works, is a good website. This means no broken links, no broken buttons, no missing pages, no broken widgets, and consistency across all devices/platforms/browsers. Making sure everything works together without faults is certain to cause your average DIY designer some headaches. One of the biggest reasons to hire a professional website designer is simply to have a website that functions correctly. And, to have a team of experienced professionals to help you troubleshoot in the event that something breaks or goes wrong.

These are some observations about the evolution of the death of the meeting.

Meetings are for people with time to waste

More often than not, my experience tells me that meetings are called by people who don’t know what else to do. They call a meeting to drag out their calendar, and to make it appear that they’re busy. You know the types, they always have a mobile device hanging from an appendage and much like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, they’re always professing that they’re late. Not to an important date, but to an important meeting. With all the meetings these types attend it’s a wonder how any actual work gets done. They call meetings to talk about meetings and those are the kind of people the rest of us want to chill.

Ask yourself if it can be done in a phone call – even better, an email

Teams and organizations that are organized will have strategies in place to avoid meetings at all costs in 2022. Not only are in-person meetings a risk to personal health (still in a Pandemic over here) but they destroy productivity. We recommend developing a decision matrix based on whether the problem you’re trying to solve requires all hands on deck in person. Questions you might want to ask to arrive at this decision?

Is the information sensitive in nature?

Some things you don’t want in writing. But maybe you can talk about them on a conference call?

Have you thought through the situation you want to meet about?

Just because you haven’t, doesn’t mean that someone else hasn’t. Reach out to the people you want to meet with first to see if your question(s) can be dealt with over the phone or through email. It’s very tempting to want to collaborate when you don’t feel as though you have a clear understanding of a situation. We encourage you to set aside some strategic thinking time in your calendar. Articulate the questions you have on paper and often times that will give you a clear understanding of the tasks at hand. That way you won’t waste your colleague’s time with inefficiencies.

Do you need outside input to make progress on your project?

If you’re a home builder, trade, or sometimes even a designer you might need to physically be on-site to examine things. Make sure that a picture won’t suffice before you call in the calvary for a site visit. Sometimes a lot of leg work can be done through a visual. Remember, a picture speaks a thousand words.

Stop rushing and putting unrealistic time constraints on projects

If we can collectively slow the roll, then I think we will be better off as a community. Stop with the expectation that as soon as you receive correspondence that you have to immediately respond with a hyper-focused answer. Slow down, schedule some time for yourself to answer. My suggestion is to always reply to a customer indicating you have received their correspondence. I let them know that I will review and respond when I have had sufficient time to provide in-depth and thoughtful feedback. This in itself helps to stave off the need for an in-person conversation.

Overall, meetings are dying in popularity, partially due to Covid and the fact that many people are working from home and partially because of people like us who discourage them wherever possible.

Gone are the days of wasted time. I would much rather take off after 6 hours of productive work than be forced to include 2 hours dedicated to one meeting because when you add up the time involved for one silly meeting it chews into your day like a puppy with a shoe.

Superfluous time wasted on meetings:

Commute time back and forth if the meeting is off-site

Parking time

Waiting for everyone to arrive at the meeting on time

Drink and/or snack distribution

Pleasantry and nicety exchanges (talk about the weather, the kids etc)

Off-topic ramblings of the one person at every meeting with main character syndrome

Actual time spent on the task at hand

Closing pleasantries

Chasing down everyone from the meeting to see if they followed through

Calling another meeting to follow up on the meeting because – meetings

Consider this when you head into 2022. Are you going to be a meeting caller or are you going to get productive? Organize and schedule yourself OUT of meetings in 2002, you’ll be happier for it!

Get in touch if you want to learn more about our process!
